What is a "good" CRS score for Kenyans?▾
Recent general draws have required 500–540 points. However, targeted draws
for healthcare, STEM, and French speakers often go as low as 330–480. If your score is below
470, focus on building Canadian work experience, improving IELTS, or pursuing a Provincial
Nominee Program.
How can I quickly raise my CRS score?▾
The top strategies are: (1) Improve IELTS — each IELTS band increase can add
10–20 points; (2) Get a PNP nomination (+600 pts — essentially guarantees an ITA); (3)
Secure a valid Canadian job offer (+50–200 pts); (4) Learn French (NCLC 7+) for
French-language draws; (5) Pursue a Canadian post-secondary credential while working in
Canada.
Does my Kenyan degree count?▾
Yes, but you must get an Educational Credential Assessment
(ECA) from a designated body like WES (World Education Services). This
assessment validates that your Kenyan degree is equivalent to Canadian standards. An ECA
typically takes 7–15 weeks and costs CAD $300–$400.
What is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)?▾
PNPs allow individual Canadian provinces to nominate immigrants for their
specific labour market needs. If you receive a PNP nomination, IRCC adds 600 points to your
CRS score — which is enough to guarantee an Invitation to Apply in all regular draws.
Popular provinces for Kenyans include Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Nova
Scotia.
Can I apply with a CRS score under 450?▾
You can remain in the Express Entry pool indefinitely. However, lower scores
rarely receive ITAs in general draws. Your best options are: pursue a PNP nomination, apply
for French-language draws (if NCLC 7+), apply for targeted category draws (healthcare,
STEM), or gain 1 year Canadian work experience which adds significant points.
